Letter of attorney about alimony for Haji Ghulam Husayn's daughter, 1916
Letter written by the attorney of Haji Ghulam Husayn Zari‘ [the farmer] to Hujjat al-Islam Ra’is al-‘Ulama’ regarding the amount of money that Mirza Lutf Allah paid to Haji Ghulam Husayn as alimony for Haji Ghulam Husayn's daughter (which had to be paid by Mirza ‘Abbas Khan, son of Mirza Lutf Allah Naqqash [the painter]), but Haji Ghulam Husayn refused to accept. The receiver responds that the amount not accepted by Haji Ghulam Husayn was one hundred and forty tumans, but the alimony was more than that.

Power of attorney to collect debt and daughter's alimony
Power of attorney given by Mirza Mahmud Baqqal [grocer], son of the late Mirza Baqir from Shiraz, to Mirza Zayn al-‘Abidin in order to collect his daughter (wife of Mashhadi Khalil Mivah-furush [fruit seller])'s alimony in the amount of fifty-five tumans, and to collect his and his daughter's possessions from Mashhadi Khalil. Moreover, Mirza Zayn al-‘Abidin has the power of attorney to get a court order for Mashhadi Khalil regarding his dispute with his wife (daughter of Mirza Mahmud)

Marriage contract of Kawkab Baygum and Haj ‘Abd Allah, 1880
Marriage contract of Kawkab Baygum, daughter of Haj Sayyid Ahmad, and Haj ‘Abd Allah, son of Haj ‘Ali, with a mahr of eighty tumans, ten tumans of which was given to the bride at the time of the marriage. The rest remains groom's debt. The marriage contract also includes the following conditions: if, in the first fifty years of the marriage, the groom travels for two full years without paying alimony to the bride, the bride can divorce herself and release the groom from paying half of the mahr. Additionally, the groom is not permited to take the bride out of the region without her consent.

Settlement between Gulrukh Khanum, daughter of the late ‘Abd al-Vahhab (from Ishaqabad), and Aqa Ghulamriza, son of the late Haji Mirza Husayn (from Ishaqabad), over Gulrukh Khanum’s rights to her mahr, alimony, and share of inheritance (one-eight), in exchange for sixteen tumans.

Divorce settlement and marriage contract
Divorce settlement of Sakinah Sultan, daughter of Siddiq Qanbar ‘Ali, and Karbalayi Muhammad Tupchi, son of deceased Karbalayi Isma‘il (from Kirman Shahan), over waiving her mahr and alimony, till after the waiting period. Should he wish to return within that period, then he must pay her alimony at a daily rate of half a silver qiran. Marriage contract of Raziyah Baygum and Aqa Shaykh Javad. The mahr is sixty tumans, of which thirty tumans were paid to the bride, and the rest remains the groom’s debt.

Khanum Kuchak's deposition, 1898
Khanum Kuchak, daughter of Mashhadi ‘Ali ‘Askar, states that she has received all her mahr from her husband, ‘Ali Asghar, and settles any possible claims for some white crystal candies. She has also received seven tumans for the expenses during the waiting period. Khanum Kuchak’s mother, Fatimah, daughter of Karbalayi Isma‘il from Khaminah, and her uncle, Karbalayi Muhammad ‘Ali, have also underwritten this settlement.

Settlement of Khanum Sultan and Khanum Bashi with Shawkat Sultan's father, 1915
According to this settlement, Khanum Sultan and Khanum Bashi, mother and aunt of Ibrahim (son of the late Mashhadi Qasim from Shiraz), have to pay the mahr of Shawkat Sultan, wife of Ibrahim, to her father, Haji Husayn ‘Ali Saqat-furush [the retailer] (son of the late Karbalayi Muhammad ‘Ali), along with the alimony and clothing expenses of the last three years.

Petition of Haji Husayn ‘Ali about his daughter's mahr and alimony, 1915
Petition written by Haji Husayn ‘Ali Saqat-furush [the retailer] to Hujjat al-Islam Ayatollah Muhammad ‘Ali al-Husayni, about the debt of his daughter's husband to him. The debt is eighty tumans of mahr and three years of alimony, which his daughter transferred to him in another settlement. At the end, the receiver of the petition writes that Ibrahim hasn't paid his debt yet, and the wife can get divorce based on Shari‘ah (with the father acting on her behalf).
